Welcome to Snaresbrook Chambers, the chambers of Joseph Barry (now also practising in East Kent).


Joseph is a barrister specialising in Serious Fraud, Financial Crime and Serious Crime.

 

He was called in 1987 and throughout the late 1980s and into the 1990s was a tenant at Wellington Street, the chambers from which legendary human rights chambers Doughty Street was formed.

 

He has acted as leading barrister and junior counsel in serious criminal cases since the 1990s, with an emphasis on murder and serious organised crime, often involving large scale or international drugs allegations.

 

He has specialised in serious sexual offences throughout his career, and was a leading barrister in the obscenity trials of the 1980s.

 

Over the last decade, he has developed a niche practice in Fraud and Financial Crime cases, often involving corruption and/or public institutions.


Joseph was a lecturer and Head of Criminal Litigation and Evidence on the Inns of Court School of Law Barristers’ Course (now City Law School), and has lectured and been published in Criminal and Fraud Law. He also wrote the course on Fraud Law for Bar Students.
